Beauty in the Shadows

Sometime last year in the late summer or early fall, we had a burst of major storms. There's so much beauty, yet so much fear when it comes to adverse weather. Today, I am sharing some Bible verses with you that demonstrate how mighty God is by the description of His voice and how thunder may be an example of His anger with the people that do not believe in Him and the people who keep sinning even after they have received His grace and mercy.

"The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them:..."
I. Samuel 2:10

"And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail,..."
Exodus 9:23

"...The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth."
Jeremiah 25:30

"The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel."
Joel 3:16

"And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:"
Mark 3:17

This final verse makes reference, not to God, but to the powerful speaking voices of the disciples, James and John - the sons of Zebedee.

Today...

I may have fallen in love with panoramas.

I took a little sideroad, which I realized was a grave mistake (wet, puddly gravel road - my car decided on traction control, and I almost slipped out once or twice!),
but I caught this gorgeous thunder-and-lightning cloud above me.

A Good Little Reminder

(Proverbs 17:20 - ...and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief. , James 1: 26 - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain., James 3:5/6/8 - Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, hoe great a matter a little fire kindleth!/And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell./But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison., I Peter 3: 10 - For he that will love life, and see good days let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. Proverbs 21: 23 - Whosoever keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soul from trouble.).

There are so many times I fall in sin because of my tongue. I always regret it, but today I found this on Pinterest, and I think that it is an excellent reminder.

DON'T OPEN YOUR MOUTH:
1. In the heat of anger - Proverbs 14: 17.
2. When you don't have all the facts - Proverbs 18:13.
3. When you haven't verified the story - Deuteronomy 17:6.
4. If your words will offend a weaker brother - I Corinthians 8:11
5. If your words will be a poor reflection on the Lord or your friends and family - Peter 2: 21-23

6. When you are tempted to joke about sin - Proverbs 14:9.
7. When you would be ashamed of your words later - Proverbs 8:8.
8. When you're tempted to make light of holy things - Ecclesiastes 5:2.
9. If your words would convey a wrong impression - Proverbs 17:27.
10. If the issue is none of your business - Proverbs 14:10.

11. When you are tempted to tell an outright lie - Proverbs 4:24.
12. If your words will damage someone's reputation - Proverbs 16:27.
13. If your words will destroy a friendship - Proverbs 25:28.
14. When you are feeling critical - James 3:9
15. If you can't speak without yelling - Proverbs 25: 28

16. When it is time to listen - Proverbs 13:1
17. If you may have to eat your words later - Proverbs 18:21
18. If you have already said it more than one time (then it becomes nagging) - Proverbs 19:13.
19. When you are tempted to flatter a wicked person - Proverbs 24:24.
20. When you are supposed to be working, instead - Proverbs 14:23.

I believe I have become better at thinking before I speak, but sometime I still speak, even though I know it will be wrong.
And believe me, I have for all of these reasons when I shouldn't have.
At least once.
I regret it.
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
I have hurt many, or ruined the reputation of some because of my words.

A Nice Start to October

Little niece

"Just a little smile for auntie...."

Be gentle.

Panorama to get the whole cloud growth on there.

A little sideroad near our home.
All nature speaks of its Creator.

Isn't this tree (or double-tree) just the prettiest gem ever?
Four colours; red, orange, yellow, green.

White-washed tree.

This section - on the corner of our road and the sideroad - used to have a historical marker which said (I can't remember exactly), "Peel Presbyterian(?) Church."

"Look, I got lots of flowers!"
Then my mother was worried and asked where they were from.
"From the flowerbed."
Then mom was super worried that she would have ripped out all these big flower plants, until she saw how little those flowers were.

We each got one, and they smelled pretty nice for flowers.
(aren't those green eyes just the prettiest things?!)

And there was a bit of a fog hanging around this morning when I left for school.

The sun did come out later.

Evening sunset.
Shark attack!!!!!!!!!!!
(Can you see those sharky snouts and that dorsal fin?)

Labour Day

The best and most relaxing Labour (what does "labour" mean anyway [Sarcasm]) Day holiday we had before school started. We got a lot accomplished and it was the best way to keep the school jitters away.
Sooo many tomatoes this year!

Manual manure spreader (and a new driver who couldn't keep his eyes to the front, because he was so excited about that manure!).

Having a ride on the new tractor (I haven't gotten a chance to drive it yet).

Alphabet, the pony, helped with the weeding (aka "weed-eating." :D)

And a fine-looking garden at the end of the day.

Art credits go to bigger brother - accomplished artist, ain't he?
And of course, no day goes by without an "incident"!
As the story goes (related by my little brother), the bigger brother was rototilling when it suddenly lurched forward. The bigger brother flew through the air (so I was told, although exaggeration does run rampant in our family) and landed on his bottom into a batch of thistles (apparently they were just regular weeds, but who knows). As my little brother recounts, "I was just laughing my head off!"

And a gorgeous sunset (God's absolutely beautiful creation).
(I believe this was from another day)
