Thanksgiving (Monday, October 10th, 2016)

"And having food and raiment let us be therewith content."
1. Timothy 6: 8
"...be content with such things as ye have:..."
Hebrews 13: 5

Germany celebrates in September, America celebrates in November, and Canada celebrates in October; but no matter when it is celebrated, I think that it is important to keep a day for Thanksgiving aside in all countries. This year, we had a near drought; nevertheless; we had many, many tomatoes and blackberries, and we had an okay amount of other crops. We won't starve.
What I have also discovered is that thanks comes from the ability to be content with what we have. Our country is probably ten times richer than half the countries in the world, and though we live below the poverty line in our country, we are still many times richer than those in some other nations.
Along the same lines: our rich countries do not know the value of preserving things, and we become wasteful of our blessings. Being citizens of some of the richest countries in the world, we must share our abundance with those who have less and make sure that we - as God's stewards - may never treat our gifts as something to be careless about.
Now, my excuse for not posting in months: school - I am hoping to keep my grades up, and it requires some effort to do that.

As an aside: I made horseradish yesterday - fun but teary.

  2. Sehr gut. You can recognize the true Christian in that he gives thanks for everything, the good and the bad, and is not offended in God, because he believes that everything is for his best.
There are many comfortings in the bible for the poor (in spirit and otherwise), but none for the rich. The pursuit of money is foolish, they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. To say otherwise is to call Jesus foolish, who, though he was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, that we through his poverty might be rich.
Sometimes God gives more than needed. David says my cup runneth over, 12 and 7 baskets of fragments were collected. These are His mercies for the poor: He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
The love of money is bringing many Christians into hell. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

  3. So is idleness and laziness. The bible is clear that when you have a gift (ie. occupation) you must use it and be productive. Lazy Christians use that excuse and say they don't want to be rich and being rich is wrong, etc. etc. Earning money is not what condemns. We should earn money so we have money to give to the poor. Waiting for God to give us things when we can legitimately earn them is tempting God like the Devil tempted Jesus to jump off the cliff.
