Work

Driving home from work,I saw a shooting star. It was sooo cool and beautiful. And very close. At first I thought it was an airplane, but then it was practically going straight down so I knew that it wasn't. And it wouldn't have been an airplane crashing either because then it wouldn't have just disappeared in mid air.
Fortunately, I know some sign language so I could communicate with a deaf guy that came into work today. Normally,he just communicates with a pen(or pencil)and paper.
Work is becoming more routine for me now and it can be boring, even though I still can't do everything.
My boss wants to learn Russian just because he sees me learning it. It is funny.

Answers about Ottawa

I was too small to remember how it looked when we went there last,or I didn't store anything in my mind from that, because I practically didn't recognize anything. The hotel that we stayed in was the same one that we stayed in last time, but I didn't really remember anything from there at all.

What We Did in Ottawa

On the first day of staying in Ottawa,we went to the Royal Canadian Mint, the Canadian War Museum and we just walked around on Sussex Drive.
The Royal Canadian Mint makes only 0 to 500 circulation coins(that is,coins that are used for money) a day, because the bigger mint in Winnepeg now does all those coins(12,000 to 500,00 coins/day).The mint still makes collectors and investors coins, though and, also, coins for different countries. The gold is obtained from Canada and the silver to make the coins is mostly from the United States of America. This year they also made the olympic and the paralymic medals because the olympics were held in British Columbia. I learned alot from the tour, but it would be boring,I think, for those who read this blog.
The war musuem was quite interesting, but also very, very sad. It told of all the wars fought on Canadian soil from the Iroquois to the modern day peacekeeping(even if it's not on Canadian soil,Canadians are still fighting). Although, the world wars, and especially the Holocaust, interest me,it still makes me solemn to think of all those people who died. The boys enjoyed it,of course. They don't think about war of killing people, but rather only think of the guns and tanks associated with it. I hope that once they grow older, they will realize what war actually is.
We walked around the city alot. Some high points made the Rideau River a beautiful view. There were alot of statues of important people. We didn't get that close to some of them, though, unfortunately.
We also crossed into Hull for a short drive. It was very interesting to see all the French signs and trying to pronounce them.
At night, when it was dark,we visited the Parliament and the Eternal Flame. It never extinguishes and it has all the shields of the different provinces and territories around it.
The second and last day of staying in Ottawa(we did not stay till Saturday) we visited the Parliament Buildings(Parliament comes from the French word "parle" which means "to talk") and that was pretty much it. We first climbed the peace tower and looked over Ottawa. It was a nice view except that it was raining and cloudy. We went to the house of commons and there was a parliament in session! It was interesting to hear it,although we had to leave early for the tour. Unfortunately,we were not allowed to take any pictures. In the tour we went to the Library-we had to be very quiet in there, because the librarians were working-,the senate, and I can't remember so much anymore. But we were allowed to take pictures on the tour, except the Library. It was the only part of the building saved from a big fire that occured there, because someone thought to close the big iron doors that led to that part. Now,the buildings are made of mostly fireproof materials,as stone, metals, etc.
The only problem with Ottawa is that it has a lot of one-way streets and so makes it harder to drive and to find your way around. But it is not as busy or has as many people as Toronto and that makes it also more beautiful. I am glad that it is our capital city.
We were glad to get home.

Night Outside/Ottawa!

Walking in the streets at night after work is so nice. Practically noone is out and it's just getting dark. Sometimes I am lucky enough to see the sun setting. I will be going to work tomorrow-it's nice to get out of the house sometimes.
At home it's nice to look at the stars and hear the crickets chirping.Unfortunately though, the nights are getting too cold to be outside.
We are going to Ottawa from Thursday to Saturday. I can't wait to go. :) All the homeschooling and young kids(or rather, children)are going. I haven't been there for a loooooong time and I don't remember much at all. I was so young.

School and Cold

Lesson 4 of Russian. :) Unfortunately, though,I don't have the advantage that some people have of hearing Russian spoken.  I will start some new Grade 12 subjects soon,I hope.
At night it's now so cold that I huddle under my featherbed to be warm. :)

Anything :)

We are finally having piano lessons again. I am glad for that.
I have just figured out how I can print pictures from my phone at work. I would like to try it one time. And then maybe I will post some pictures.
Work and school are occupying alot of my time,so I don't have much time to do anything else. It has been a time since I posted something. ...
N loves to go outside and it is almost a trial to keep him occupied inside.Just yesterday,he took one of our fireplace shovels and was playing "rototiller" in the sand outside! He started music lessons today. He won't be a good student, probably, because he has too much energy.
Some trees are already fully devoid of leaves. The time flies by so fast! I wouldn't be surprised at all if tomorrow is winter. And it's not even fall yet! Well, actually next week is the start of fall.

September 11,2001

This is 9/11 or the same day of 2001 in which some planes, hijacked by terrorists, crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City. I don't remember very much from so long ago,but I have read lots about it.

Another Pretty Verse.

This one is German and tells about a bird that sings so sweet and makes people listen, but that is so small that you can barely see it.It is a cheery, uplifting, hymn particularily for children:
Vöglein im hohen Baum,
Klein ists,ihr seht es kaum
Singt doch so schön,
Daß wohl von nah und fern
Alle die Leute gern
Horchen und stehn
Horchen und stehn.
Unfortunately, though,I know very few German songs.

Fall and "Almost-School" Days

Today is another beautiful day. Sunny and warm and nice to do schoolwork outside. And it's so peaceful out there, too. :) There is a nice gentle breeze. I noticed, though, that the suns rays are not as warm as they used to be,unfortunately.
Soon I will be starting on the 3rd lesson of my Russian workbook. I have lots of vocabulary to learn...I hope that I will be able to learn it well and to be able to use it.
I am almost certain that a teacher will be a good career choice for me,although,I don't know what Bachelor degree I would like to get before being able to apply at teacher's college. I am still in school, though,it is not too important right now. A little important, but not very much.
I am working on my Grade 10 piano pieces and I think it's going fairly well, except for the fact that it might be going a little slowly. But I will get the hang of it soon. :) I really like doing 4-note chords in technique. :) Only if I know them, that is. :)

First Day of Work and the Changing Weather.

Well,I survived my first day and I only made a few mistakes. It wasn't very busy,so that was good. I didn't have to worry too much. I haven't learned everything yet,but hopefully I will soon.
Yesterday morning,it was pouring rain, but it cleared up in the evening and everything was so fresh and clean after that. Today is a beautiful, sunny day,but it is definitely September-the wind is stronger and cooler and the tree's leaves are changing colour. It is school time again. Just this morning I was surprised to see the school bus coming down our road again. We will be starting new schoolwork next week. I can hardly wait! Grade 12! It seems so old to be in Grade 12,yet I feel the same that I always have. It is a funny feeling.

Work and School

Well, school is starting now. L and M have already started and R will start soon. I hope to start soon, too, although I have never really stopped.
Today is my first day of work with no training and I am a little nervous...I hope that it will go well.

Some Pretty Verses,Particularily for Children

God make my life a little light
Within the world to glow,
A little flame that burneth bright
Wherever I may go.

God make my life a little flower
That giveth joy to all,
Content to bloom in native bower,
Although the place be small.

God make my life a little song
That comforteth the sad,
That helpeth others to be strong,
And maketh others glad.

God make my life a little staff
Whereon the weak may rest;
That so what health or strength I have
May serve my neighbour best.

Wherever I may go.
Wherever I may go,
God make my life a little light
Wherever I may go.
